Start an import
Open your Customers list and choose Import Customers. This opens the import window, which walks you through a few short steps.Choose how to import
First, pick where your customers are coming from:- Import from CSV file — upload a spreadsheet you’ve exported from anywhere.
- Connect another platform — pull your data straight from another affiliate tool through its connection, if it’s one of the supported platforms shown.
Upload your file
Drag your CSV onto the upload area, or select it from your computer. Referly only accepts.csv files, so if your list is in a spreadsheet, export or save it as CSV first.
Match your columns
Once your file is read, you tell Referly which column holds which piece of information. Referly matches obvious columns for you based on their headings — you just check them and fill in anything it couldn’t guess. Two fields are required for every customer:
The rest are optional and fill in more detail if you have it:
- Full Name, or First Name and Last Name
- Join Date — when the customer was originally referred
- External User ID — the customer’s ID in your own system, if you track one
Run the import
When your columns are mapped, start the import. It runs in the background, so you don’t have to wait on the screen — large lists keep processing while you carry on. You can follow its progress and see whether it finished in the imports list, and open any import to see its details, including any rows that were skipped.Prepare your file
A little tidying before you upload saves trouble:- Include a header row, so Referly can match your columns automatically.
- Make sure every row has both an email and the affiliate’s email.
- Check that each affiliate email belongs to an affiliate who’s already in your program, so their customers link up correctly.
