Referly sends emails for you as your program runs — welcoming a new affiliate, telling someone they’ve been approved, letting an affiliate know they earned a commission, and keeping you posted when a sale comes in. This page is a tour of everything under email settings: which emails go out, how to turn them on or off, how to change what they say, and how to send them from your own domain. These settings live in your program’s Settings, in the left sidebar. They’re split across three places:
  • Affiliate Portal > Email Settings — the emails your affiliates receive, plus open and click stats and your email marketing integrations.
  • Affiliate Portal > Email domain — send emails from your own address.
  • Program Details > Email Notifications — the emails you receive about program activity.
Each part below links to a deeper guide when you want more detail.

The emails Referly sends

There are two groups of automated emails:
  • Emails your affiliates receive — the emails the people promoting your product get, such as a welcome email, an approval or decline notice, and alerts when they get a new referral or earn a commission. See Emails your affiliates receive.
  • Emails you receive — the emails that land in your own inbox as the program owner, such as a new affiliate sign-up, a new sale, a payout that’s ready, and a weekly performance summary. See Emails you receive.

Turn an email on or off

Most emails have a toggle. Switch it off and Referly stops sending that particular email; switch it back on to resume. Your change takes effect right away — there’s no separate save step for notifications. A few essential emails, like the affiliate sign-in verification code, can’t be turned off.

Send yourself a test email

Before you rely on an email, you can preview exactly what it looks like in a real inbox. Open an affiliate email and choose Send Test to send a sample to yourself. This is the quickest way to check that your branding, wording, and sending address look right.

Change what an email says

You can rewrite the content and adjust the layout of most affiliate-facing emails using the built-in editor. Open an email and select Edit to open the custom email builder, where you edit the text, buttons, and images block by block. Editing email content is available on the Business plan.

Send from your own domain

By default, emails come from a Referly address. On the Business plan you can connect your own domain so emails arrive from you instead — for example notifications@your-domain.com — which builds trust and improves deliverability. You add your domain, add a short list of DNS records at your domain provider, and Referly verifies them. See Send from your own domain.

Track opens and clicks

Referly automatically records when your affiliate emails are opened and when links inside them are clicked, so you can tell whether your affiliates are engaging. Each email shows its open and click rate, and you can open any email to see a Sent to Opened to Clicked funnel. See Track opens and clicks.

Sync affiliates to your email marketing tool

If you run broader campaigns in a dedicated email platform, you can connect one to Referly so your affiliates flow into a list automatically. Referly integrates with Klaviyo, Mailchimp, MailerLite, and Brevo. See Email marketing integrations to connect one.

Availability

Everyone can turn the standard emails on or off, send test emails, and see open and click stats. Editing email content and using a custom sending domain are part of the Business plan. See Plans and features for what’s included on your plan.
