# Minimum payout amount

> Set a minimum payout amount in Referly so affiliates are only paid once their cash earnings reach a threshold, reducing small-transfer fees.

The **minimum payout amount** is the smallest cash balance an affiliate has to reach before they're included in a payout. It keeps you from sending lots of tiny transfers, which can cost more in fees than the payout is worth. This page explains what it does and how to set it.

You'll find it as **Minimum Cash Payout Amount** in the **Payout Schedule** section under **Program Settings → Program details → Payout settings**. It appears once automated payouts are turned on.

## How the minimum works

When a payout batch is created, Referly only includes affiliates whose eligible cash earnings have reached the minimum. An affiliate below the threshold isn't dropped or paid a partial amount — their earnings stay put and keep adding up. As soon as they cross the minimum, they're picked up by the next batch.

The amount is set in your program's currency. For example, with a minimum of 50, an affiliate who has earned 40 waits until they've earned at least 50 before they're paid.

## What it applies to

The minimum only applies to **cash** commissions. Non-cash rewards like coupons and credits are not affected by it — those are delivered on your schedule regardless of amount.

## Choosing a good minimum

Think of it as a trade-off between fees and how quickly affiliates get paid:

* A **higher** minimum means fewer, larger payouts and lower fees, but affiliates wait longer to be paid.
* A **lower** minimum pays affiliates sooner, but you'll send more transfers, each with its own processing cost.

Set it near the point where a payout is clearly worth the transfer fee for your chosen [payout method](/docs/help-center/manage/payouts/payout-methods). Remember to select **Save Changes** after adjusting it.
