# Affiliate groups

> Organize your Referly affiliates into groups with their own commission plans, landing pages, and promo codes. Learn to create groups, assign affiliates, and track group performance.

As your program grows, you'll want to treat different affiliates differently — pay your influencers on richer terms than your customers-turned-advocates, or point a set of partners at a landing page built just for them. **Affiliate groups** are how you organize affiliates into segments that can each carry their own settings.

## What a group can do

A group is a named, color-coded set of affiliates. Beyond keeping your affiliates tidy, a group can carry its own:

* **Commission plan** — everyone in the group earns on the group's [plan](/docs/help-center/getting-started/commissions/overview) by default, so you can reward one segment more generously than another.
* **Landing pages** — send a group's traffic to pages tailored to them.
* **Promo codes** — give a group its own [discount codes](/docs/help-center/engage/coupons/overview) to share.

Groups also make the rest of your program easier to work with: you can [filter](/docs/help-center/manage/affiliates/filters-and-columns) your affiliates list by group, [message](/docs/help-center/engage/messages/groups) a whole group at once, and target [announcements](/docs/help-center/engage/announcements/audience) at one.

## Create and set up your groups

Groups are created in your program settings. Go to **Settings**, open **Program details**, and find **Affiliate groups**.

Select **Create group**, give it a name (like `Premium Partners`), and pick a color so it's easy to spot in your list. Once the group exists, you can set the commission plan, landing pages, and promo codes that apply to it.

From the same screen you can **edit** a group's name or color, or **delete** a group you no longer need. For the full setup, see [Affiliate groups settings](/docs/help-center/settings/program/affiliate-groups).

## The default group

Every affiliate who isn't assigned to a group sits in the **default group**. This is where new affiliates land until you move them, and it's governed by your [base commission plan](/docs/help-center/getting-started/commissions/overview). You don't have to use groups at all — if you never create one, everyone simply stays in the default group.

## Assign affiliates to a group

Once you have a group, there are a few ways to put affiliates in it.

### From an affiliate's page

Open an affiliate's [detail page](/docs/help-center/manage/affiliates/affiliate-detail) and select the **group chip** under their name. Pick the group you want, and they move across right away.

### Many at once

To move a batch of affiliates together, select them in your [affiliates list](/docs/help-center/manage/affiliates/overview) with their checkboxes, then choose **Change group** from the actions menu. This is the quickest way to sort a lot of affiliates — filter down to the ones you want first, then assign them all in one step. See [Bulk actions](/docs/help-center/manage/affiliates/bulk-actions).

### Filter your list by group

Once affiliates are grouped, the **Group** column shows each affiliate's group as a colored tag, and you can filter the whole list to a single group. See [Filters and columns](/docs/help-center/manage/affiliates/filters-and-columns).

## See how a group is performing

Each group card in settings shows that group's numbers at a glance — how many affiliates it holds, plus their clicks, referrals, and revenue. The default group card shows the same for everyone who isn't in a named group. Select any of these to jump straight to that group's affiliates, filtered for you. It's an easy way to compare segments and see which groups are pulling their weight.
