# How you get paid

> How affiliates get paid in Referly: from referral to reward to payout, reward and payout statuses, your Payouts page, holding periods, minimums, and payout schedules.

Every sale you refer turns into a reward, and every approved reward eventually turns into a payout. This page follows that whole journey, so you know what happens between someone clicking your link and money landing in your account, and where to watch each stage from your affiliate portal.

One thing worth knowing up front: **each program sets its own payout rules**. How often payouts run, how long earnings are held, the minimum you have to reach, and which payment methods you can choose from are all decided by the company running the program, not by you. If you promote more than one program, expect them to pay on different schedules.

## From a referral to a payout

Every reward you earn travels the same path:

1. **Someone uses your link or promo code.** Referly records the click and remembers it for the program's cookie window, so the sale still counts if they come back and buy a few days later.
2. **A sale is recorded.** When your referred visitor signs up or pays, the program's tracking sends that sale to Referly and ties it to you.
3. **A reward is created.** Referly applies your commission plan to the sale and works out what you earned, whether that's cash, a coupon, or store credits.
4. **The reward is approved.** Most programs approve rewards automatically. Some review them first, in which case your reward sits at **On Hold** until they accept it.
5. **The holding period passes.** Many programs hold approved earnings for a set number of days, which gives them a window to catch refunds and chargebacks before money goes out. Your reward simply waits until it has aged past that window.
6. **The reward is gathered into a payout.** On the program's payout schedule, all of your eligible earnings are collected into a single payout. If the program has a minimum payout amount and you haven't reached it, your earnings stay put and roll into a later payout instead.
7. **The payout is paid.** The money is sent using the payout method you set up, or your coupon or credits are delivered.

## Where to see your earnings

Open **Payouts** in the left sidebar of your affiliate portal. Four cards at the top summarize everything:

* **Total Earned** — everything you've earned in this program, for all periods, whether or not it's been paid yet.
* **Total Paid** — how much has actually reached you so far.
* **Next Payout** — the amount already gathered into a payout that hasn't been sent yet, with an **Est. pay date** underneath it. If the program creates payouts by hand instead of on a schedule, that date shows as **Unknown**.
* **Last Payout** — your most recent completed payout.

If you've earned non-cash rewards, the cards also show small chips counting your coupons and credits alongside the cash figure.

Below the cards is your payout history. Each row is one payout, with its **Method**, **Payout Email**, **Reward**, **Period**, **Created** date, and **Status**. You can search, filter, sort, and choose which columns to show.

## Follow a single reward

The **Payouts** page tracks money that's already on its way. To follow an individual sale, open **Rewards** in the left sidebar. Each row has two status columns, and they answer two different questions.

**Status** tells you whether the reward has been approved:

* **Accepted** — approved, and it can be included in a payout.
* **On Hold** — the program still has to review it. It won't be paid until they accept it.
* **Declined** — the program rejected this reward.
* **Refunded** — the customer's purchase was refunded, so the reward won't be paid.

**Payout** tells you how far along the payment is:

* **Unpaid** — you haven't been paid for this reward yet.
* **Payout Created** — it's been gathered into a payout that hasn't been paid out yet.
* **Paid** — the money has been sent.

## What each payout status means

In your payout history, the **Status** column follows the payout itself rather than the individual rewards inside it:

| Status         | What it means                                                                                                               |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Pending** | The payout has been created and is waiting to be sent. |
| **Processing** | The payment is on its way to you. |
| **Paid** | The payout has been completed. |
| **Failed** | The payment couldn't go through. This is usually a problem with your payout details, so check them and contact the program. |

<Note>
  A payout showing **Paid** means the program has sent the money. Depending on your country and payout method, it can still take a few business days to appear in your account.
</Note>

## Open a payout for the full breakdown

Select any row in your payout history to open its details. There are two tabs:

* **Transfer Status** follows the payment through a timeline: **Created**, **Processing**, **Sent**, and **Delivered**, so you can see exactly where it is.
* **Payout Details** lists the amount, payment method, status, and period, then shows **Included Rewards** — every individual sale that makes up this payout, with the customer, the revenue, and what you earned on it.

Underneath, the **Payout breakdown** splits the total into the commission, any VAT, and any fees. If your program uses Referly to send payouts, it also shows how the payout is funded and what you receive after conversion, along with an estimated arrival date.

When an invoice is available for a payout, **Download Invoice** appears here.

A payout made up of coupons opens a **Coupon Details** window instead, where you can copy each code and see whether it's been redeemed. See [Non-cash payouts](/docs/help-center/affiliates/non-cash-payouts).

## Set up how you want to be paid

You can't change the schedule, but you do control where the money goes. Go to **Settings** in the left sidebar and open the **Payouts** tab:

* [Cash payouts](/docs/help-center/affiliates/cash-payouts) — choose your payment method and enter the details the program needs to pay you.
* [Non-cash payouts](/docs/help-center/affiliates/non-cash-payouts) — see the coupons and credits you've earned and how they reach you.
* [Invoice details](/docs/help-center/affiliates/invoice-details) — add the business or personal details that appear on your payout invoices.

<Warning>
  Fill these in before your first payout is created. If a program has no way to pay you, your earnings keep accumulating but the payment can't be sent.
</Warning>

If the program pays through Referly and you haven't connected an account yet, a **Connect Payout method** button appears at the top right of your **Payouts** page as a reminder.

## Seeing every program in one place

If you promote several programs, you don't have to check each portal separately. Sign in to the Influencer dashboard at `influencers.referly.so` with the same email you use for your programs, and open **Payouts** there.

It looks like the payouts page you already know, with one difference: the summary cards add up your earnings across **every** program you've joined, and the history table gains a **Program** column so you can tell at a glance which program each payout came from.

You still get paid by each program separately, on each program's own schedule. The Influencer dashboard is there so you can see the whole picture without switching accounts. See [My programs](/docs/help-center/affiliates/my-programs) for more on managing several programs at once.
